FREDERICK, MD – On a scorching evening in Frederick, the only thing hotter was the Long Island offense on Tuesday, knocking 23 hits en route to a 16-4 win over the Ghost Hounds.
Carlos Castro opened the scoring with a single in the second inning against Dustin Beggs, which was followed by RBI singles from Scott Kelly and Lew Ford.
Luke Becker put the Ghost Hounds on the board in the bottom of the second inning with a homer off of Ducks starter Kyle Lobstein. Becker would take Lobstein deep again in the fourth. Kole Cottam had the third Ghost Hound solo homer of the night in the third.
The Ducks continued to mount big innings, scoring four in the third, three in the second, and three separate two run innings.
Carlos Castro led the way with a five hit night, driving in four including a ninth inning home run. Lew Ford followed with a four hit night of his own.
Nate Peden pitched the final two innings for the Ghost Hounds, striking out four. This included striking out the side in order in the eighth.
